Water Leaking at Tank Ball Valve
If there is a leak where the tank ball valve attaches to the tank’s metal stem, the most common reason is No Teflon tape was applied, or Not Enough Teflon tape was applied.
Please follow the steps below:
- Shut off the feed water to the RO unit.
- Open the Pure water faucet and let water run to empty water from tank.
- Disconnect the 1/4″ tubing connected to tank ball valve.
- Unscrew the tank ball valve from tank.
- Make sure Teflon tape has been applied to the tank’s metal stem.
- If No Teflon tape was applied, please give 6-8 wraps of Teflon tape around the tank’s metal stem. See figure. 1
- If Teflon tape was applied, there might not be enough that was applied. Apply an additional 2-3 wraps.
- Reconnect tank ball valve and tubing to tank ball valve.
- Open the feed water line and check for leaks.
