Protecting You from Bacteria with Whole House UV Treatment
Water quality studies commonly find that between 20 and 40 percent of wells in any given area are contaminated with E. coli, Cryptosporidium, or coliform bacteria. These microorganism can cause widespread illness or gastrointestinal complications commonly known as beaver-fever. Unfortunately, most people don’t take precautions until they’ve experienced a bad water test and then the typical response is to simply pour chlorine bleach into their well. Once added, chlorine may react with organic matter in the water to create dangerous chemical by-products known as trihalomethanes (THMs) which can increase the risk of cancer, miscarriage or damage the liver, kidneys and nervous system. These chemical will also affect the taste and odor of the water.
Township and city-managed water supplies aren't failsafe, either. Boil water advisories are becoming more common as many of our city's decrepit water pipes and infrastructure start to decay from old age. Even ordinary drops in water pressure levels can lead to the siphoning of harmful contaminants from exposed residential and commercial sources back into our communal water supply. Beyond the inconvenience and health concern, these occurrences are a clear warning that the clean water we've taken for granted is becoming a scarce resource.
Whole House UV Treatment - The Proven Way to Safeguard Your Water
UV disinfection is a natural process that adds no chemicals to your water. The germicidal energy of ultraviolet light destroys illness-causing microorganisms by attacking their genetic core (DNA). This powerful dose of UV light (wavelength of 253.7 nanometers) eliminates their ability to reproduce, and the organisms simply die. Water is purified by running it through a watertight chamber that contains an ultraviolet lamp. As water flows past, microorganisms are exposed to a lethal dose of germicidal UV energy. Disinfecting your water with ultraviolet light is exceptionally effective and environmentally safe. The UV does not change the taste, color, or odor of water. It is well proven, and it is the way of the future for water disinfection.

Recommended Operating Conditions:
*Flow Rates shown are at 85% UVT.
NOTE: A 5 micron (nominal) sediment filter must be installed before the UV system and after any water softening equipment. If the UV transmittance (UVT) is less than 75% after the pre-treatment, activated carbon filtration may be desirable to improve UV transmittance. In addition, we suggest installing the unit indoor or at room temperature only.
Tips On Choosing A System:
To assure your highest satisfaction, please choose the right size (gpm) of the UV system that matches your household peak demand flow rate. This is simply a measure of how much water can flow through your main water line if all the water outlets were opened at once. A typical North American house might have a maximum flow rate of 15 GPM (56 LPM), while a larger home might reach 7 GPM (26 LPM) or more. You may also determine the flow rate you need based on the number of bathrooms in your home.
Typical Flow Rates for a single fixture, in Gallons per Minute (gpm)
