Water bottles are made out of different materials, but one of the more common types is aluminum. Making aluminum water bottle start with an extruding press (one single movement) through which a cylinder can be formed out of an aluminum puck. Afterward, the puck is shaped into one of several water bottle sizes. Next, a distinct threading ring is inserted into the bottle and secured. Once the bottle has been properly formed, it is sanitized and sprayed with food compatible stove enamel.

Though aluminum is certainly one of the more popular water bottle materials, there are several additional types. Other materials used in water bottles are high-density polyethylene, low-density polyethylene, stainless steel, polypropylene, and copolyester. Compared to other containers, there are both advantages and disadvantages to using aluminum water bottles. A distinct advantage for aluminum is odor resistance. In water bottles made out of low- and high-density polyethylene and polypropylene, the trace of odor will remain far longer and stronger than it does with water bottles made from aluminum. A few other reasons that people like the aluminum bottles are because they are known to be shock-resistant and deformation-resistant, they protect water from light, and they are fairly lightweight. The coating inside the water bottle is also flexible and less likely to crack or to break from impact. In addition, water and other beverages can be carried around freshly and securely due to the secure cap and the internal lining.

Despite the fact that aluminum water bottles are popular, there have been concerns about the safety of their use. One of the disadvantages of aluminum water bottles is that they do not provide much insulation. As a result, condensation is able to build upon the outside when cold drinks are being carried around. A person may find that they cannot comfortably hold the water bottle if they fill it with a hot drink instead. Still another disadvantage of aluminum water bottles is that they are inappropriate for use in temperatures that are below freezing. Additionally, though they are praised for their impact resistance, the extent of it is quite poor when compared to water bottles made out of stainless steel, high- and low-density polyethylene and polypropylene.

In the Twenty-first Century, more people are inclined to recycle products because of a huge push from environmentalist organizations. Aluminum water bottles are easy on the environment, and people who no longer have use for them can recycle their material. Aluminum water bottles are known to be environmentally and ecologically sound, which also makes them reusable. There are 60 billion tons of plastic wastes created every year. By using aluminum water bottles, those numbers will decrease and spare the waste from plastic containers that can end up in the oceans where it wreaks havoc on marine life. Statistics show that much of the damage from plastic products such as plastic water bottles occurs even before it reaches a consumer’s hands. By buying aluminum water bottles that are recyclable and reusable, a consumer is already making a choice that benefits the planet.
