Will the quality of your tap water has an effect on your skin and acne? The answer is, YES! You may be hesitant to purchase a water filtration system for your home, but after reading this article you may have a change of heart. Many people grew up drinking unfiltered tap water and developed familiarity with it that these people may be confident about tap water is clean and pure. However, the truth about tap water should not be ignored. Because there are many chemicals in tap water that are abrasive and tough on both your health and your skin.

Many people all over the country are routinely being exposed to low levels of water contamination that can affect their health and skin. Chemicals like pesticides and herbicides are often introduced into the soil in the US and unfortunately, some of it may end up in the water channels where our tap water is drawn from. Many cities routinely add abrasive chemicals like chlorine, chloramines, and fluoride to their tap water. Even we ourselves are culpable, as every single person who uses any type of chemical in their home, i.e. sunscreen, prescription drugs, and other types of chemicals such as shampoo, soap, hairspray, and household cleaners will be adding to water pollution. All of these pollutants can have an adverse effect on people’s health and skin.

If you notice that you often feel under the weather or have problems with your skin such as acne or pimples, it is definitely time to try a water filtration system. Contaminated drinking water could be causing your immune system to weaken and your health to decline which can lead to skin problems and breakouts. Chlorine and chloramine chemicals in the water can dry and irritate the skin, causing rashes or allergic skin reactions from simply showering and bathing. At the same time, people suffering from skin or health conditions will only benefit from drinking clean purified water that can help them flush out toxins from their bodies and improve digestion and waste removal.

Municipal water companies will test their water frequently and they are required by law to provide you with an annual water report. If you have not received a report, you can call them to request one by mail or visit their website to check if they have a PDF version online for download. The report will reveal the pollutants you have been exposed to through your drinking, cooking, and bathing water which may include bacteria like E Coli, chemical agents like chlorine, and even radioactive contaminants like radon, which can cause cancer! Many other water pollutants can also be found and passed through the water systems and into your home.

If you are suffering from acne and have tried just about everything to rid yourself of this extremely stressful and irritating condition, it is in the best interest of your skin and overall health to consider using both a water purifier for your drinking water and a shower filter for your bathwater. You might not even realize how unhealthy you have been until you switch to pure and clean water and start feeling ten times better than before.

Also do your research on water filtration systems; don’t just buy the cheapest one in the market. It’s important that you have the city water report with you so that you can choose a filter system that will remove the specific contaminants from your water that may be affecting your skin. Or consider purchasing a quality reverse osmosis system that will remove up to 99% of all contaminants from your water.
